Background: One of the most common problems in menopausal women is sleep disturbance. Citrus aurantium has sedative, hypnotic, and anti-anxiety effects. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Citrus aurantium aroma on the sleep quality of postmenopausal women. Methods: This was a double-blind randomized controlled trial that was conducted from Feb to Dec 2019 on 80 postmenopausal women who suffered from sleep disturbances. The participants were assigned into two groups randomly. Women in the intervention group were requested to use 2 drops of essential oil of Citrus aurantium, twice a day, for 4 consecutive days in a week, for 4 weeks as inhalation. The control group received almond oil in the same way. The quality of sleep was evaluated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) before the intervention and 4 weeks after the intervention started. The data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical software, version 21, and p Results: After 4-weeks of intervention, the mean score of sleep quality was significantly lower in the Citrus aurantium group compared to the control group (5.75±1.33 vs 13±1.59, p <0.001). In the intervention group, all dimensions of PSQI were improved significantly (p <0.001).Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the aroma of Citrus aurantium essence could significantly improve the sleep quality of postmenopausal women. Therefore, it is recommended that health care providers should inform the postmenopausal women and advise them to use this intervention for reduction of sleep disorders.

Background: The majority of Covid-19 cases occur at the community level requiring health services to be available at the primary health care level, which also includes Community Health Nursing (CHN) services. It is important to understand various perspectives of the parties involved, effective solutions, and strategies used by nurses in managing Covid-19 in order to be able to provide these services. The purpose of this study was to explore the community health nurses’ (CHNs) roles in the Covid-19 management in Indonesia. Methods: A qualitative method was used to explore the perspective from nurses and health cadres as participants. Data were collected through in-depth phone interviews with 11 participants from December 2020 to February 2021 in Bandung. Data were analyzed manually using thematic analysis. Results: Five themes were extracted in this study, namely providing comprehensive services by CHNs; utilizing technology to bridge the information needs; implementing family nursing care; spreading the wings of health cadres by CHNs; and collaborating as the heart of Covid-19 prevention and management. Conclusion: CHNs should employ health education, empowerment strategies, group processes, and advocacy in adapting to the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The five themes identified in this study can be used by policy makers to develop strategies in optimizing the CHN in Covid-19 pandemic management and the possible challenges of future global pandemics.

Background: Postnatal care plays a great role in the health of mothers and their neonates. This study aimed to evaluate the mothers’ perceptions of the provided postnatal care and the associated factors. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the health centers of Sirik city in Hormozgan province, Iran, were selected using convenience sampling. The study was conducted on 160 mothers who had referred to the selected centers for postnatal care from 7 August 2018 to 2 August 2020 and had given birth to live full-term neonates (>37 weeks of gestation) 40 days to 12 months before sampling. The Mothers’ Perceptions of the Quality of Postnatal care questionnaire was designed by the research team; it included 18 questions about mothers’ perception of care. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS software, version 21. Results: The mothers’ mean score of perception was 69.84±16.04; most mothers rated the provided postnatal care and their relationship with the personnel as good or excellent. The mean total scores of the mothers’ perceptions were not different based on their satisfaction with postnatal care (P=0.646) and time of the first referral after birth (P=0.251), but they were significantly different according to the number of referrals (P=0.023) and their satisfaction with the health personnel (p <0.001). Conclusion: The study results revealed that mothers had a good perception about postnatal care provided by health center staff. Hence, it is necessary to educate all health staff in this regard to provide high-quality postnatal care to all mothers who refer to these centers.

Background: Most parents consider adolescence to be the most difficult stage of parenting. Parental practice is a determining factor in adolescents’ outcomes. Mothers play the main role of parenting in Iran. Coinciding the transition of adolescence with the transition of middle-aged mothers can affect the mothers’ parenting practice. The present study aimed at explaining the Iranian mothers’ practice in parenting an adolescent child. Methods: This qualitative conventional content analysis was conducted from July 2018 to November 2019 in Kashan. 21 in-depth semi-structured interviews with mothers of adolescent children were performed using a purposive sampling method. The data were analyzed through conventional content analysis. Data collection and analysis were performed simultaneously using MAXQDAv10 software. Results: Regarding the study objectives, two themes and six main categories were identified. The theme of ‘laying the groundwork for upbringing’ was detected by two main categories: ‘meeting the needs and ‘effective interaction with the adolescent’; also, the theme of ‘individual-social capacity building’ was explained by four main categories: ‘helping to gain independence’, ‘modeling individual-social behavior’, ‘socializing the adolescent’, and ‘preparing to accept future roles’.Conclusion: Mothers’ practice was mainly focused on adolescents’ independence, college education, career prospects, and marriage preparation and respect for older adults. Consistent with this transition to modernity, and contrary to the collectivist values of Iranian society, mothers’ practice was in line with developing adolescents’ independence and building their self-confidence, which is close to the authoritative parenting style.

Background: Adherence to social distancing recommendations provided by health authorities plays an important role in the prevention and control of COVID-19 transmission, regarding the lack of effective drug therapies. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the relationship between socio-demographic factors and adherence to social distancing recommendations during COVID-19 pandemic in Gonabad, Iran. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 587 subjects aged 15 and older were selected using the convenience sampling method from urban and rural areas in Gonabad, Iran, from July to September 2020. Data were collected online using a socio-demographic characteristics form, the adherence to social distancing recommendations scale, and a coronavirus disease awareness survey. Subsequently, the obtained data were analyzed in SPSS software (version 16) using hierarchical linear regression. The statistical significance was considered as p <0.05.Results: 72.23% (95% confidence interval: 68.41%-75.82%) of the participants followed the recommendations of social distancing at the high level. Nevertheless, many differences were observed in the subgroups which resulted from the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants. According to the multiple linear regression model, sex (β=0.24, p <0.001) was the most important determinant of adherence to social behavioral recommendations, followed by occupation (β=0.15, p <0.001), age (β=0.14, P=0.007), awareness (β=0.13, P=0.001), and history of mental illness (β=-0.08, P=0.049).Conclusion: For the effective management of pandemics, the general public health policies should also consider the variability in responses and behavioral changes caused by socio-demographic characteristics, rather than focusing only on general measures, such as social distancing.

Background: Pain is the fifth vital sign and its proper management in infants is important. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of breastfeeding versus sensorial saturation on infants’ behavioral responses of pain following Pentavalent vaccination on 4 and 6-month old babies. Methods: This single blind randomized controlled clinical trial study was conducted on Shahid Dastgheib Health center in Yasuj, from May to September 2016. Eligible infants (N=180) were selected using convenience sampling method. Then, using block randomization method, we assigned the participants to one of the three groups of Breastfeeding (N=60), Sensorial saturation (N=60), and Control (N=60). The infants’ behavioral responses of pain were measured using the Modified Behavioral Pain Scale (MBPS) and duration of crying following Pentavalentvaccination. Data were analyzed through SPSS software 22 using Chi square, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Kruskal-Wallis, and Dunn ̓s multiple comparison tests. p Results: The results of the study showed that the MBPS mean scores for breast feeding, sensorial saturation, and control groups in 4-month old infants were 6.60±1.60, 5.40±1.30 and 8.90±0.40, and those of 6-month old ones were 7.20±1.10, 6.10±0.90 and 9±0.50, respectively. Also, both the breastfeeding and the sensorial saturation groups scored significantly lower in behavioral responses of pain and crying duration on both 4 and 6-month old infants compared to the control group (p <0.05). Sensorial saturation group significantly scored lower in behavioral responses of pain and crying duration on 4 and 6 month old infants than the breastfeeding group (p <0.05).Conclusion: Both breastfeeding and sensorial saturation could diminish the infants’ behavioral responses of pain following Pentavalent vaccination; however, sensorial saturation was more effective than breastfeeding.Trail Registration Number: IRCT2016051527916N1
